Trauma Therapy Group for Caregivers
January 6 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pmFree
This therapy group is a weekly meeting that will go on indefinitely. Parents can come and go as they wish each week, but must RSVP in advance to make sure space is available.
The group is designed for foster and adoptive parents. The group has three primary objectives:
- Provide specialized training to grow in your parenting skills that are unique to children that have dealt with abuse, neglect and other forms of trauma.
- Help participants deal with the stresses, hardships, and overcome the resulting anxiety and depression that often come with parenting foster and adoptive kids.
- Resolve underlying stressors by strategizing ways to help our children heal and grow to their full potential.
This group can be used as a supplement to other therapies your child receives, or as an effective child-centered therapy alternative. Parents are the best agents of change, healing and growth for their children and this group is designed to have impact not only on the parent, but also will be a great benefit for the child.
There will be opportunities to occasionally bring your child into the group for therapeutic interventions.
Participants can attend in person, or online.
There is a $25 charge to attend this event. No up front money will be collected, but you are required to RSVP for this limited space event. Medical Insurance can be billed when permissible medically necessary (it most often is for parents of challenging children). You will be responsible for any co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles.
