Car, Manners

Posted on April 13, 2010

Car Manners· are critical because they affect safety. Car travel can be a control issue and a power drain, BE READY. When it becomes a dangerous situation the distraction needs to be dealt with to ensure the safety of the rest of the occupants.  An out of control child should not be taken anywhere in a car unless it is absolutely necessary. When the child develops enough self-control to talk about their feelings, rather than act the out, they are safer in a moving vehicle. Until then when the child begins to escalate the driver needs to halt the vehicle immediately! Do not wait until foam is coming from your clenched teeth! One boy actually kicked out the windshield while his mother was driving on the interstate! Don’t take a chance. A mature enough child in good weather and a safe area might need to walk home. It is safest to follow in the car. Or turn around and go home. This only works if you have a very loose time schedule.  Both hands on top of the head for a short while keeps busy hands out of trouble.
